CMCS is pleased to announce the first certified home compostable product and second scheme participant, Sinclair International Limited (Sinclair).
Sinclair’s fruit labels passed the tests according to the NF T51-800 standard and have been confirmed by the certification body to comply with the home compostable requirements. This product went through several critical tests at an approved laboratory and was assessed by the certification body, DIN CERTCO, as complying with the CMCS requirements and underlying standard NF T51-800.
This certification grants the company the right to claim that their products have been certified as suitable for home composting or disposal in composting heaps at home.
Georgia Phetmanh, Head of the Organic Materials Certification Schemes at REAL said:
“We are very pleased to welcome Sinclair as the second participant of CMCS. We are excited by the fact that through home composting, the labels can be disposed of with the fruit instead of throwing them away separately. This makes it easier for the consumer and returns biological matter to the soil.
We continue to work with other producers currently going through the rigorous certification process and look forward to welcoming more to our scheme.”
John Ryan, Laminate Development Manager at Sinclair said:
“Receiving this certification marks a major milestone in our sustainability commitment. Sinclair is proud to pioneer the first certified home compostable fruit label and the first-ever CMCS-certified home compostable material.
Our innovative labels support customers’ sustainability goals and also helps organic recyclers, such as anaerobic digesters and composters, by removing a potential contaminant from the waste stream.”
The certificate information can be found on the CMCS website here.
Sinclair offers food-safe fruit and vegetable labels in a wide array of shapes, sizes and styles to suit any company requirements. More information on the company can be found here: https://www.sinclair-intl.com/.
