CMCS announces the first certified home compostable product

• The Compostable Materials Certification Scheme (CMCS) announces the first certified home compostable product.  
• The product is manufactured by Sinclair International Limited (Sinclair), now the second participant of CMCS.
• Certification of Sinclair’s fruit labels in line with the NF T51-800 standard shows they are suitable for home composting.
• This product meets CMCS’ home compostable requirements, having been tested by an approved laboratory and assessed by one of the CMCS certification bodies.
• CMCS welcomes Sinclair as the scheme continues to promote the diversion of biowaste from landfill, returning biological matter to the soil.

CMCS is pleased to announce the first certified home compostable product and second scheme participant, Sinclair International Limited (Sinclair).  

Sinclair’s fruit labels passed the tests according to the NF T51-800 standard and have been confirmed by the certification body to comply with the home compostable requirements. This product went through several critical tests at an approved laboratory and was assessed by the certification body, DIN CERTCO, as complying with the CMCS requirements and underlying standard NF T51-800.

This certification grants the company the right to claim that their products have been certified as suitable for home composting or disposal in composting heaps at home.

We are excited by the fact that through home composting, the labels can be disposed of with the fruit instead of throwing them away separately. This makes it easier for the consumer and returns biological matter to the soil.
